Overall Winner Equine MediRecord Profile:

Equine MediRecord develops, sells and maintains a mobie application and website making it easier to properly record medicines administered to racehorses and other bloodstock that is mandated under regulation. It is currently available on their website and through the app Store. The application was developed with the help of a number of racehorse trainers both in the UK & Ireland who are currently finishing their trials. It is the first application to be approved as compliant to replace the paper system by British and Irish regulators. Equine MediRecord is also in contact with other global regulators such as the Hong Kong Jockey Club.

It is the first system globally that is accessible to private yards, veterinary surgeons and regulators. Currently all veterinary regulatory documents in the equine industry are based on paper. Anything that is given to a racehorse apart from regular feed or water must be recorded in the Medicines Register, a book that is handed out by horse racing regulatory bodies to all registered trainers in order to allow them to record all medicines being administered. To inspect the Register the regulator must visit the yard, which is costly and inconvenient for both regulators and trainers, as the yard is shut down during inspection. Failure to keep this book updated can lead to fines, or suspension of a trainer's license. Moreover, the Register can be lost, damaged or become illegible. Tainers can view all of the horses under their care electonically, can choose the prescribed treatment from a list that will autofill with all the relevant details and also delegate the task of recording the medicines to an assistant or vet by simply requiring that they accept the record by push notification. The system also records non-regulatory data such as training schedules, horse weights and feed notes.

Winners from the other categories are as follows:

Best established SME serving the Industry went to Jim McGill of Mount Mills for his Flax seed oil.
