ITBA launches the ITBA Summer Tour Series which will feature a number of behind-the-scenes tours of industry businesses. This is a great opportunity for breeders to understand more about what each of the enterprises do and how to boost their own businesses. Read the full schedule below for details of each tour.

Thursday 8th August, 2.30pm: Tour of the Irish Farriery School during the students work day. This tour includes a short seminar on ‘Corrective Shoeing for Sales Preparation’
The Irish School of Farriery is located at the Racing Academy and Centre of Education (RACE) on the Curragh. It assists in the training of Farrier apprentices and the development of a modern farriery syllabus. Run under the Irish Farrier Authority, the School of Farriery is where Irish apprentices undertake their practical and theoretical assessments. The Farriery school is the only training centre that offers accredited training to apprentices in the Republic of Ireland and is highly regarded around the world.
The tour will take place during the students work day in the forge where attendees can gain an understanding of the training involved for Farrier apprentices. A seminar on ‘Corrective Shoeing for Sales Preparation’ will be held following the tour.
Wednesday 14th August, 2:30pm: Connollys RED MILLLS Feedmill Tour with the option of evening racing at Gowran Park
Connolly’s RED MILLS, Co Kilkenny, has a long-standing history spanning more than 100 years, pioneering the animal nutrition industry. They supply leading scientifically formulated feeds designed by expert nutritional and technical teams, working tirelessly to ensure the highest industry standards are upheld with every product created at their state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Ireland.
During the Feedmill Tour, members will be taken through the facility to see the full process of designing, creating and testing all the different feed.
Members will have the opportunity to attend racing at Gowran Park for evening racing following the Feedmill Tour.
The cost of the tour and entry to racing is €10, please book through ITBA.
Friday 30th August, 12pm: Swordlestown Little Stud Farm Walk hosted by Farming For Nature
Farming For Nature works with farms to enhance the natural health of the countryside. This event will include a farm walk at Mariann Klay's Swordlestown Little Stud, Naas, Co Kildare, that will look at the many ways to help promote biodiversity and nature on a busy stud farm.
Booking can be done through www.Farmingfornature.ie and will cost €10 per person. The farm walk will last approximately 2 hours with light refreshments available after. Make sure to dress appropriately.

Wednesday 4th September, 2:30pm: Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital Tour hosted by Mark MacRedmond
Anglesey Lodge Equine Hospital is located on the Curragh and serves both pleasure and performance horses. They offer a wide range of routine and highly specialised veterinary care. The tour will include a walkthrough of the full facilities available at the hospital and the opportunity to ask plenty of questions.
Booking can be done through ITBA and will cost €10 per person. A bus will be made available from ITBA HQ, Kill, Co Kildare for all attendees as we want to reduce car traffic at the hospital.
