Join us on Friday 28th January, 2.00 pm to 4.30 pm for the first in our series of National Webinars where a panel of industry experts will discuss the important topics relevant to breeders. The webinar will form 3 sessions. To register email

Session 1 – ITBA Update

The first area for discussion will be an overview of ITBA. Chairman John McEnery, Vice Chairman Cathy Grassick and CEO Shane O’Dwyer will discuss activities within the last 12 months together with plans for 2022 and beyond.

Session 2 - Changing in Today’s Environment

The 2nd session will cover all aspects of operating in today’s climate. The panel will discuss all elements around movement of animals, difficulties facing breeders post-Brexit and important steps around traceability and functionality that will better serve all involved.

These steps include the already implemented ePassport together with the importance around High Health Breeding Status (HHB). Grant Thornton will discuss the VAT and other taxation requirements in place at present. John Osborne, Director of Welfare & Bloodstock HRI will discuss welfare quality, traceability, 30-day foal notification and anti-doping.

Session 3 - Sustainable Options for Breeders

The third and final session of the webinar will address sustainability for breeders. With contribution from the Irish Equine Centre, we will highlight the practical and achievable options and actions breeders can do to play their part. Topics to be covered in include; grants available for breeders across a wide range of biodiversity and sustainable farming initiatives, how to access these grants and ITBA future Climate Action Plans
