ITBA Focus on CLIMATE ACTION Webinar Friday, 25th June 2021

As part of its very successful Education Programme, ITBA will host a webinar entitled “Focus on CLIMATE ACTION” on Friday, 25th June 2021 from 10:AM - 12:PM

A panel of leading experts in the area of climate change has been secured for this most relevant and timely webinar, namely;

  • John Geraghty, Agri Consultant
  • Jim McAdam, Honorary Professor, Queen’s University Belfast
  • John McSweeney, Prof Geography at NUI Maynooth
  • David O’Connell, founder of OCAE Consultants.

This not to be missed webinar will cover key climate challenges currently facing our industry;

  • Agroforestry
  • Biodiversity
  • Climate Change Cause & Effect
  • Grassland & Pasture Management
  • Management Adaptations for Climate Change
  • Soil & Mineral Management.

The webinar includes a Q&A Session with members of the panel and will be chaired by Cathal Beale, CEO of the Irish National Stud. For this element of the webinar, breeders are encouraged to submit any Climate Action related questions in advance by emailing Kerry Ryan at kryan@itba.ie. Breeders can also register to attend by emailing kryan@itba.ie

Commenting on the webinar, ITBA CEO Shane O’Dwyer said “in addition to assembling an eminent panel of speakers, I am delighted to announce we have secured Senator Pippa Hackett, Minister of State for Agriculture, with responsibility for Land Use and Biodiversity, who will open the webinar with an key note address. A thoroughbred breeder herself, Senator Hackett acknowledges ITBA is fully committed to supporting the Government’s landmark Climate Bill of putting Ireland on the path to net-zero emissions by 2050. As thoroughbred production is low-intensity farming, Irish breeders are well placed to play their part in terms of stud farm sustainability, which in turn can feed into Ireland’s Green Agenda”
