ITBA National Breeding & Racing Awards 2019

Once again much of the International Bloodstock Industry logged on to watch the live streaming of the ITBA National Breeding & Racing Awards on Saturday 25th January 2020. In excess of 370 people descended on The Heritage Killenard, located in a rural townland in Co. Laois. All in attendance where there to honour and acknowledge the outstanding achievements of Irish breeders and Irish bred horses both Flat and National Hunt during 2019. The ITBA congratulates all award recipients but a special mention goes JP McManus, who was inducted into its Hall of Fame.

During his address to the full house, ITBA Chairman Christy Grassick highlighted the need to actively engage with all general election candidates emphasising the rural reach and economic contribution our industry makes. He advised the ITBA activity plan for 2020 would concentrate on supporting small to medium sized breeders through its budget submission and political engagement. Also high on the list of priorities is animal welfare and traceability.

He stressed ITBA’s commitment to the investing in and nurturing of future generations and welcomed the inaugural ITBA Next Generation Award, which went to Joanne Lavery.
