The new General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR) increases the obligations and responsibilities for organisations on how they collect, use and protect personal data.

The ITBA currently holds a name, postal address, and e-mail and telephone/mobile number for members of its association. This information has been provided by to us from our members and the ITBA requires this information for the following reasons;

  • To maintain up to date records of our members
  • For membership renewal and to provide members with up to date information on the Bloodstock Industry (both home and aboard) and any issues or threats to the industry that may arise.
  • For the transport of horses and creation of veterinary DOCOMS
  • This information was provided by our members when they initially joined the ITBA or over the intervening period since and will be held by ITBA as long as breeders are members of the association.
  • This information is stored securely both electronically and in hard copy. Should members wish to access or update this information, they can contact the ITBA and advise us accordingly
  • The ITBA does not share any of this information with third parties, with the exception of with industry supporters of the ITBA Members Benefit Scheme. This information is shared in a secure and responsible manner.
  • Agreements are currently being put in place to ensure that any information shared to these bodies is solely for the specific purpose of service provided and it cannot be used for any other purpose
  • All ITBA office computers and laptops have been encrypted and data is protected.
  • Kerry Ryan an ITBA employee is our appointed ITBA Data Controller
  • ITBA would like to assure all its members/shareholders that the organisation is taking its obligations under GDPR seriously and its’ policy will ensure the association is compliant
